Kata No 1:

The history of this kata is that it was taught to me as part of the Kyu Shin Ryu karate syllabus (where it is known as "Japanese Kata Number One").

It is a basic movement kata but can be used to teach the basics of generating power from the centre.

We teach it as part of the syllabus for the Red Belt (first grade exam taken) for those students who wish to go through the grading process.
