reports:
"Fatal attack' at Belgium creche"
"Five people have been killed in a knife
attack at a creche in western Belgium,
according to local media."
"Flemish VTM television said three children
and two adults have been killed, and other
reports say a further 20 people have been
injured."

Comment: I
think that the personal safety lesson to be
learnt from this horror is that violence is (as
far as the victim is concerned) a completely
random event that can happen anywhere and at
any time - you absolutely need to have the
skills to maximize YOUR chances of
survival.

"Burglaries and knife robberies up"
"Robberies at knife point have risen by
almost a fifth, according to official figures
for England and Wales."

Comment:
What is needed is complex, it is probably
nothing less than a change in the values that
we teach the young, a justice system that acts
to administer justice and a large dose of
common sense to all - and oh yes, a media that
doesn't glorify violence on one hand whilst
inflaming public fear on the other... Don't
hold your breath waiting for any of that to
happen any time soon.<SIGH>
