Say 'YES' to being a
survivor!
Personal
Safety - Why it matters.
| Welcome from the founder of
PPSS Robert
Agar-Hutton. |
|
What could you do if you or someone
you were with, was threatened or attacked? Do you know what to
do to talk down a potential aggressor? Do you know about
positive body language; verbal de-escalation methods and crisis
management techniques? Do you know straightforward self
preservation and self defence techniques that will work if
someone physically attacks you? And on top of all that what
about the LAW - what can you do to protect yourself without
ending up in court or in prison?
Protectics Personal
Safety System - 'Protectics PSS' - will teach you how to live
your life safely and without fear. KNOWLEDGE and ABILITY equals
POWER. You can learn how to have the POWER to live a full and
safe life. You can learn Protectics PSS.
It is a system that is designed for
'everyone'. A system that can adapt to the capabilities and
requirements of the individual. If you are young and fit,
great. If you are unfit or elderly, great, you can learn too.
If you physically inept and uncoordinated and have never said
'boo to a goose' or if you are already a confident Black Belt
martial artist, great. The Protectics Personal Safety System
can dramatically increase your personal safety skills and allow
you to lead a safer life.

Of, course it is quite possible that you are
simply overwealmed by all the information (and misinformation)
that is available. You can browse the Internet and view a
thousand different websites, each with a different opinion. So
here is my explanation of the ideas and terminology that you
may come across.
There are a wide variety of overlapping and
sometimes confusing options for anyone who is concerned about
their personal safety. There are Martial Arts, Martial Sports
and Self Defense methods. I will try and explain the
differences and issues involved.
Martial Arts are traditionally
those systematised methods that teach physical defensive
skills. However during the last century many of them became
changed and have taken on an increasing role as philosophical
or even spiritual methods of self improvement. The Okinawan
fighting art of Karate Jutsu became the basis for the Japanese
art of Karate Do, the 'Do' (Pronounced 'dough')
indicating a 'way' or 'path' of personal development. Other
Martial Arts such as many forms of Kung Fu have become stylised
to an extent where their actual effectiveness in a street
confrontation has been compromised. There are many martial arts
(including) many forms of Kung Fu that are effective fighting
arts, however most (virtually all) of them are only concerned
with the mechanics of fighting and do not address the verbal
pre-fight and the psychological pre and post fight issues.
Next are martial sports. which includes Judo
which was originally designed as a sport by its founder Dr.
Jigoro Kano who removed many of the more dangerous
techniques from Ju-Jitsu to develop the art. Also many other
martial arts are primarilly martial sports as can be seen by
the amount of competition that goes on. Be it Karate, Ju-Jitsu,
Tae Kwon Do or MMA the effect of competition is to necessitate
the removal of dangerous and potentially lethal techniques.
Finally are Self Defense methods and
here we come to some of the best and some of the worst. The
best are those systems that teach pre and post conflict
strategies, awareness of the law, defensive issues on the
street, within the home in the car and elsewhere, psychological
training, legal and moral obligations and much, much more.
The worst are those systems that teach a 'gung ho', 'military
combat', 'kill em all' sort of macho nonsense that
require their participants to be at best bullies and at
worst potential prison inmates.
You have to decide what is right for you.
The Protectics Personal Safety System is designed for people
who want a flexible intelligent answer to the possible real
world issues that they could be faced with. If that is you,
